Bengaluru Rural

Bengaluru Rural district is located in the southeastern part of Karnataka state between the north latitude 12° 15' and 13° 31' and East longitude 77° 04' and 77° 59' which consists of Devanahalli, Doddaballapura, Hosakote and Nelamangala. The total geographical area of the district is 585431 ha. Bengaluru rural comes under eastern dry zone of the Karnataka with the mean annual rainfall of the district is 986.19 mm. The main crops grown in the district are paddy, jowar, bajara, maize, wheat, pulses, oilseeds like groundnut, sunflower horticultural crops like vegetables fruits and cash crop like sugarcane and others. The soils of Bengaluru Rural districts are broadly classified in to four categories viz loamy soil, lateritic soil, lateritic gravelly soil and red sandy soil


The fertility status of Bengaluru Rural district showed that among major nutrients, available N varied from medium and low, available P was medium and high and K is medium in the district. In case of available sulphur, maximum area was medium followed by low fertility status. The available micronutrients viz., Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu were sufficient in the soils of district and the boron content is deficient in 48 per cent of the area
